Although I spend a lot of my time traveling, my homebase of nearly 15 years is Brooklyn, NY. One of my favorite things to do is explore the countless restaurants and bars in my borough, finding the most interesting, and definitely the most delicious, meals and drinks to try. Below are a few links to articles and reviews I wrote this winter for Edible Brooklyn that are about some of my favorite Brooklyn haunts. Haitian-American, French, Italian, and "old school" cocktails.

Hot toddies, spiked eggnog and buttered rum are lovely, but in this article I try even more old school drinks such as mead, Batavia arrack punch, milk punch, ginger cocktails, and a lovely Campari cocktail.

The owners of the Haitian-American Cafe Erzulie's collaborated with an existing flower shop so that both local businesses could flourish. This is a story about delicious food, drinks, and gentrification.

French gastronomy is synonymous with romance, and for good reason. The rich mouthfeel of French wine, decadent sauces that delight the palate and perfectly cooked meats at a long, lazy meal make for the perfect date night. Whether you prefer sitting with your partner at the bar in a bistro, cozying up in dark corner or basking in the warm light at cheerful table in an old converted garage, there are numerous French restaurants tucked within the borders of the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bed-Stuy and Bushwick that suit a variety of romantic moods and budgets.

2017 was the year that finally exposed some of the Harvey Weinsteins and Mario Batalis of the world, yet despite the apparent advances of women, the World Economic Forum says in a new report that “equality is in retreat.” Supporting women-owned businesses is one way to combat some of this inequality, and trying Silvia Barban's amazing pasta dishes at LaRina Pastificio & Vino in Fort Greene is a delicious way to contribute to gender equality.
